In order to disable an event, you have to log in to the self-service with credentials of the user who created the event.
If you only want to hide an event, make it private and accessible only with a link, click on Edit next to the event and select Private in Event visibility settings.
The sale of tickets will still be on after you make the event private.
If you want to make an event invisible, when log in and simply change the event status from Enabled.
to Disabled:
After you disable the event, the sale of tickets will be off.
