1.06. Creating / Sending Messages

The window for creating messages consists of: text field, number field (additional numbers), base selection.

  • In the text field, the text of the message must be entered. One message can contain up to 160 characters. In case the limit of 160 characters is exceeded, the recipients will get your message in two parts.
  • In the number (additional numbers) field, a number in 370XXXXXXXX format must be entered. If you want to send the message to more than one receiver, the numbers must be separated by comma, e.g. 370XXXXXXX1,370XXXXXXX2.
  •  In the base selection window, you can select a base, i.e. a group of receivers, who will get the message. If a base (group) is selected and additional numbers are entered, the message will be sent both to phone numbers from the group and additional phone numbers. You can select exemption groups that the message will not be sent to.

Message options window consists of:

  • Message type - currently only SMS message type is available.
  • Sender - in order to change sender's name, the user may submit it to the administration of LightSMS through Lists > Senders. The administration activates the sender's name after verifying it as according to the rules.
  • SMS template - an SMS template for messages of frequently repeated content can be created in Lists > Templates.
  • Delivery time - in case you select Immediately, the receivers will get the message immediately. You can postpone message delivery time by selecting Later and indicating the specific date and time for sending the message. If Smooth sending is ticked, you will have to select the end date and time for sending a message. Let's say, we have chosen a period of time equal to 10 minutes and we have 10 receivers. The system will automatically calculate and send the message to each receiver every minute. If we had chosen to send a message to 2 receivers for the period of time equal to 1 hour, the first receiver would have gotten the message immediately, and the second one - in one hour. This functionality is designated for traffic management, for example, when we want a receiver to contact us by phone.
  • Sending name - this input field is designed for generating further sending statistics (for sender only). Examples of sending names: "Wednesday discounts", "Weekend promotion".
  • SMS validity time - determines the period of time for repeating sending SMS messages with an indefinite status.
